We love giving you a sneak peek into the inner workings of BaubleBar HQ, so our newest blog series takes a look at the crazy doodads hiding on our employees’ desks! Today, you’ll get a glimpse of what’s hiding on Graphic Designer Hazel Castillo’s desk! Read on to learn a little bit more about her.
I’m a sucker for stationary, especially cute little note pads and stickies. The little fuzzy bear is a gift from my teammate Nicole’s trip to Korea. It offers wrist support, but I use it for moral support as well!
I always keep some Airborne on hand because germs get around and I hate being sick…and being contagious. (Hint: Cough in your elbow, not in your hand!)
These cute straws are handy and a favorite last-minute prop for summer photo shoots.
As a member of the Creative Team, there’s always some packaging, printing samples and mockups on my desk.
Finally, our team’s favorite show is Bob’s Burgers, and everyone compares me to Tina, because she’s the most quotable, so I have this framed card. I guess people think I’m funny!
The evil eye motif is nothing new — we’ve seen it before in ancient Eastern traditions and many a runway show since then. We think it’s safe to say this trend is not going anywhere! Many cultures believe that the eye talisman wards off injury and misfortune. Superstitious or not, we love wearing this symbol on our baubles and our clothing! Around the office we’re fans of some understated sparkle when it comes to the evil eye, like a delicate pendant, pair of studs, or cuff.

1. We love a good sale, especially when it’s on baubles.
3. Drool… must be pretty nice to have a custom-designed jet.
4. A gorgeous (and patriotic) look for any July 4th festivities.
5. This week we celebrated National Pink Day with these earrings.
6. Finally, adult nap time is acceptable. Happy napping!
7. This is fascinating. A journalist sent her photo to graphic designers all over the world to see how standards of beauty differ in each country.
8. A beauty how-to on rocking Radiant Orchid for three skin tones.
9. The Limited is launching an Olivia Pope collection this fall, so we can finally dress like our favorite gladiator. It’s handled.
10. This crostini appetizer is super easy to make, and the flavor options are endless.
We confess: There are days we seriously can’t get out of bed. No. Matter. What. We know you’ve been there, too. As a public service, we pulled together a foolproof guide to getting out the door in five minutes’ time—without looking like you just rolled out of bed. The truth is, no matter how put-together someone’s life may appear, everyone has an inner lazy girl.
So, let’s talk wardrobe. Simple, classic and comfortable are your best friends. In the summer, all you need is this winning formula: a flowy shift, slip or shirt dress + stylish slip-ons + a statement necklace. The jewelry acts as the conversation piece, while the dress is easy to pull on and slip-ons are functional enough for speed walking. These investment pieces will certainly be reused year after year.
As for makeup? Carry a good lip stain or crayon, dark mascara and some bronzer everywhere so you can apply on the go. You’ll look like you woke up at 6 AM and styled an amazing outfit. Maybe we’ll be lazy girls and sleep in every day!
The pets of BaubleBar are a charming bunch! Today, we are excited to introduce you to our VP of Sourcing & Production’s dog, Lyra.
"We fell in love with Lyra four and a half years ago when we found her at Bideawee, an animal shelter located in NYC," says Liz. "She was originally rescued from the Bahamas, where she roamed the beaches as a wild dog, or ‘potcake’ as the locals call them. After arriving at Bideawee, one of her eyes was removed due to a bad infection, but that didn’t slow her down at all. She is a very sweet, shy girl who loves to run around in Connecticut on the weekends and sleep on her couch all day in NYC. She can be slow to warm up to new people and animals, but once she does, she’s a loyal buddy for life."
